see all reviews⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I took the Strength & Core class at Crew 1 Rowing and really enjoyed the experience! I arrived about 10 minutes early and was the first one there. The instructor, Mary, introduced herself, showed me where I’d be sitting, and had me grab weights for the strength portion of class. There was a limited selection of weights, with only one set of 20-pound weights available as the heaviest option and a few lighter sets to choose from. I initially hesitated to grab the 20-pound set since there were two men in the class, but Mary let me know they already had their weights. I ended up using the 20-pound weights for deadlifts and 8- and 5-pound weights for arms and shoulders. Mary helped me get adjusted and explained how to use the rowing machine properly. I already had some familiarity with rowing, so that part was pretty quick. Once everyone was ready, she turned off the lights, and we got started. I really liked the darker setting with the blue lighting. It created a cool atmosphere for the workout! I enjoyed the rowing portion because it felt manageable while still giving me a full-body workout. Mary demonstrated the movements from the front of the class for the most part, but she was also attentive to our performance. When she noticed our numbers weren’t where they needed to be, she got off her rowing machine and came over to coach us. I appreciated that extra guidance! The mat exercises for the strength and core portion moved pretty quickly, with some movements lasting around 30 seconds. Personally, I would have liked a little more time for certain exercises to really challenge myself, but I still enjoyed the overall workout. The music was good, and I liked being able to see our stats on the screens at the front of the class. Another plus was that recording was allowed! A lot of fitness studios don’t allow it, so I appreciated having the option. Overall, I had a great first experience at Crew 1 Rowing. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the rowing, and Mary’s coaching. I’d definitely love to come back and try another class!
